Blog 5
In the movie "Benefits of Podcasting in the Classroom," it displayed all of the ways in becoming an excellent teacher using podcast. By interacting with students outside of the classroom, podcast could be really beneficial. Students could use podcast and promote creativity and innovation in the process. I've learned by using podcast, your creativity can explode on the web and give others the courage they need to boost their ideas.
Wow, their are 100 ways to use your ipod to learn and study better! Who knew technology would be at the point that its at now? Just using an ipod, someone could do anything from taking notes on a notepad to learning Spanish. I never knew a hand help electronic device could be so beneficial. Ipods also have an application for learning SAT vocabulary words that could really help someone about to test. Not only has technology advanced, it seems there's no slowing down for it no time soon.
In Lanwitches Blog, it gave a side to me that would give a kid the edge he/she needed to get up and move in enthusiasm. The blog stated, "A teacher's heart smiles when students become creative, enthusiastic and take ownership of their work." I believe that should be true. But growing up in the schools that I grew up in, It seemed like they didn't give us the chance to. They always wanted everything one way. The only time it seemed we could be creative was in Art (lol). I believe by introducing podcast to students is very beneficial to the student body as a whole. Podcast gives students confidence and make them feel special in their own way.

Don't Teach Your Kids This Stuff. Please?
Scott Mcleod is a professor in the Educational Administration Program at Iowa State University wrote a post regarding children using technology. Dr. Mcleod states how much people focus on the negative, but leaves out most of the positive. Computers are enhancers that help us develop skills outside of pen and paper. He explained how people look at the thoughts of porn on the web rather than the educational needs. Eventually, we will have to further out education to technology because it isn't slowing down.
Although their are some aspects that are bad and negative about the web, their are many helpful aspects as well. If their were a study to prove education, I world think the people that are literate to technology world definitely have an advantage. Technology is such a huge part of education. Why should it be ignored?
The iSchool Initiative
The video "The iSchool Initiative" were persuading people that iSchool (made like an iphone) would be a better tool to learn from than a class room, pen, and paper. I would differ. Even though you will be saving money in the process, If iSchool took over schools, would literacy rates go down? I would prefer the regular way of teaching through books and pen.
I believe a balance of technology with pen and paper is all we really need. I think all we would have to do is cut back on pencils and paper instead of stopping it in general. Then we have to think about the money we would have to put in for additional applications. It sounds good to most people because it's different. But before we act on things, think about it first.
Lost Generation
This video was very motivating to me. I deeply believe every word of the second half of the video. And if my generation is lost, It will not be my fault. I'm willing to do my part in this generation to set it up and start the upbringing. In my life, true happiness really comes from God, and if he's with me, I really don't care who's against me. I do believe we can change the world. In order for change to start some where, change has to start somewhere. I'm tired of people saying, "money can't make them happy" because it can. It's just we would rather have more than just money.
The technique used for this video could not have been more creative. It was entertaining and pulled your attention right in. I would encourage any and everyone to view this message in the video. It is truly inspirational and would motivate any one who's willing to find our generation.
Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir
This video is awesome! I wouldn't even know where to start if I was to create anything of the sort. Their voices are amazing. The video itself sounds Live. For these people to never have met is over the edge. I play music at my church, so I really like music anyway. I was drawn in from the beginning to the end. I read in Jennifer Chambers post, this post was on WKRG 5 Early Morning News and it was posted on Youtube.

Additional Assignment 1
Google Squared provides a very simple way of learning new things about any subject you type. If given a two worded category, Google provides a more in depth meaning on what you type instead of simplifing both words. Wolfram Alpha provides a simular style of listings as google squared, but more informative to me. Wolfram Alpha provides a more literateral meaning of the search. I really didn't know anything about Google Squared or Wolfram Alpha. In the video "Did You Know," It said, "25%of India's population with the highest IQ's are greater than the total population of the US. Looking at the listion showed, the country is a whole lot larger than ours, so I could understand now.

Teachers Comment 1
JOE DALE was my teacher assigned and I found that his page was quite exciting! On a video he posted, called Interviewing Tips and Recording. I found tips helpful because im not very computer literate and i've never used podcasts before (and im a college student). He gave details on enhancing computer skills that were helpful to the least computer literate person. Some of the tips seems simple but when trying to do different types of interviews or audio recordings there are so many things going on around us. Their also many things going on in our head to block us from getting the job done, but we have to keep a level head and reach the finish line.
Another thing DALE had quite helpful on his blog page was an explanition of wordle to the slow learning wordle people (me lol). These tips were very informative and helped me out on what wordle was and explained the meaning of it, how wordle was used in the classroom too. Wordle is a tool to generate word clouds using text, websites, etc... The neat thing about it is, the often the word is used, the bigger it appeart on the wordle. I didn't know a lot of the things explained but the video explained things quite simple. I believe once students learn how to use wordle, they would enjoy it and probably add it to their facebook or myspace that they might have.

A VISION OF STUDENTS TODAY
If walls could talk in the college classrooms, they would ask us, "Why?" Why do we spend more time watching t.v. or listening to music, than studying for exams that benefits us more? Why do we overlook the necessities in life that actually advances us in longterm situations? Many of these situations helps us grow as young adults, into maturs adults.
While in school, we pick a field to study and have a lifestyle in mind that we plan to achieve. Although many of us achieve that academic goal of graduation, sometimes we might get the unexpected. This film made me realize, when I graduate i'll probably have a job that don't even exist today. Many people dream what they want to become at an early age, but how do you really expect the unexpected?
KELLY HINES
Learning seems to be getting more involved with technology as the years go by. As teachers, how can we transition from paper and pen to paper, pen, and computer software if we lack understanding of basic technology? Teachers must continually be learners, willing to do research of trends and tools. Simply to understand where students come from in actions, and relate to their understanding of "cool".
Kelly Hines said, "For teachers to be successful, they must be self-motivated in the pursuit of understanding." That is as real as it gets. If a teacher is not self-motivated in the beginning, where will his/her motivation come from? In the process teaching skills of literacy and technology, I believe life skills are just important. By a student being able to be theirself in creativity and innovation, the possibilities in life really does have no limits.
TECHNOLOGICAL ILLITERATE TEACHER
I believe all educators should have a basic level of technological knowledge also. The writer said technology is apart of life, not just an add on. I agree with that statement 100%. Many things in life evolve around technology. By being illiterate to basic technology, could paralyze you in the future.
Many people in fact say, "I don't know how to run a computer and might be proud of it. But the sad part is they're not even willing to understand it. The writer said, "If a teacher today in not technologically literate-and unwilling to change, it's equivalent to a teacher 30 years ago who didn't know how to read and write." The thing is, we need to view life as the movement of a clock, instead of just listening to the ticks..
GARYS SOCIAL MEDIA COURT
I think statistics are very important numerical facts that help us understand things in an entertaining point of view. The statistics shows that 236 million people a week in US listen to the radio. I think that is amazing. But I always question how close are statistics? With certain things, I personally think they're more of an educated estimated guess than of facts.
66.4 billion dollars were made from all music sold this year. 11.4 billion of that is made from the music concerts world wide. I guess that's why so many people want to be "rappers" (lol). Even though these numbers might be close to truth, I still would encourage any person thats wanting to go into music or not, to still get a college degree. Money is like sand, while knowledge is concrete.

DID YOY KNOW?
Its amazing how much information many people over look in the world, and the changes we have to come. The video "Did you know" Informed me the in China, if you're 1 in-a million, there are 1300 people just like you. Many people of the new generation would never agree with these statistics, but if the study is true than the facts are shown. By the people of China being so alike, I wonder if that could interfere with creativity in things staying the same and not elevating.
Did you know, 1 out-of 8 couples maried last year, met online? I think that is amazing! By me being single, I'm wondering if I should start looking online for a girlfriend (lol). I could understand how many people met online because of the information that is given of the sites. You tell them your age, weight, height, theings you like, things you dislike, and also what you want in a mate. So if theirs a picture of a person online and they met your personal standards, hey, why not?
MR. WINKLE WAKES
Imagine waking up from a deep sloop of 100 years and viewing things of new technology. But first, imagine being sleep for 100 years (lol)! I would be so lazy, I wouldn't even care about the changes. I would think I was really in a coma, and first look for my family and stay away from a mirror (lol). Not knowing whats going on, I probably would just try to fall back to sleep and hope it was all a dream.
If I was to wald the streets from a 100 year sleep, ofcourse their would be changes. The video "Mr. Wrinkle Wakes" shows how a person would react to present day conditions, being sleep from 100 years ago. He would notice many technological and electrical changes. He noticed hospitals and how people just treated people instead of them just on their on. Also how we have schools and teachings of literacy using eletronic devices.
SIR KEN ROBINSON
Sir Ken Robinson is a very positive and powerful speaker. He helped me open my eyes to many things that we, as a people, were programed to see as "normal". I definatly agree with Robinson when he said, "Creativity is just as important as literacy in schools." We over look Arts in schools because we think many of us don't need it after hgh school. Robinson then explained how he met a lady that stayed in Arts, made it a profession, and became a millionaire.
The message in Robinson's speech, encourages us while we're young to not give up on our creativity. He said If we don't grow in creativity, we will grow out of it with time. Many times we lose intrest in things because we try to please everyone in the process. Sometimes we have to expand our boarders of excellence. A quote from Robinson's speech that I really enjoyed was, "If you're not prepared to be wrong, you'll never come up with anything original."
HARNESS YOUR STUDENT'S DIGITAL SMARTS
This video is very impowering to not only students, but teachers as well. It helps us to understand that as teachers, we might not know it all. When students come up with, and see new things they feel more impowered and enthusiastic about learning. In this process, teachers learn new things also. Nothing makes us more impowered than a student not only learning, but enjoying theirself in the process.
The speaker of this video said, "Every child can learn, the problem comes when you only have paper and pencil. Then only certain types of children will succeed." As I went through high school and some college, I noticed some teachers were very smart in their field. I also learned being smart doesn't make someone a good teacher. I think teaching requires creativity and a will to impower students.
